RETREATS
YEAR ROUND RETREATS, SILENT, NON-DIRECTED
Monastery of Christ in the Desert.
Year-round silent, non-directed retreats offered, located in New Mexico.
"We believe that the best way that we can give hospitality in the desert is
to offer our guests a chance to share in our Benedictine way of life. The key
elements of this life are charity, prayer, spiritual reading and manual labor.
The atmosphere most conducive to this kind of sharing includes silence and some
solitude. We warmly invite guests who wish to seek Christ to come and
share our life. Our guesthouse is a place where individuals can find quiet time
for prayer, privacy, reading and reflection... inspired by God's Word speaking
in the liturgy and silence." (click title to link)
The ABBEY OF GETHSEMANI:
Offers year-round silent, non-directed retreats just outside of Bardstown, Kentucky. "Hospitality maintains a prominence in the
living monastic tradition. As outlined in St Benedict's Rule for Monasteries, the guest
represents Christ and has a claim on the welcome and care of the community. Communing with
the Lord requires a measure of solitude, a stillness and an emptiness, a waiting on and
attending to the Spirit. Silence fosters and preserves the climate of prayer and is thus a
fundamental part of the Gethsemani experience."

THE ABBEY OF SANTA RITA.
The
Trappestine Sisters offer year-round, silent, non-directed
retreats in Sonoita, Arizona. They follow the rule of St.
Benedict of silence, solitude, prayer and
simplicity. They invite all to visit their web pages to learn more about
their Abbey and Cistercian way of life. (click
