Note LOCATION because of the summer renovations at Holy Family Catholic Church. Also note DATE (NOT Thursday but FRIDAY). Thank you.

Thank you to all who attended the last two special prayerful evenings - May in honor of our Spiritual Director's 56th Ordination Anniversary of his Holy Priesthood at Holy Family Catholic Church and just recently - 27th Anniversary of the Apparition in Medjugorje of Our Lady, Queen of Peace and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the Shrine of Our Lady of LaVang.

Special thank you to Father Joe and his parishioners for allowing us to celebrate the Holy Mass, what was the former Discalced Carmelite Monastery of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. The ground is indeed holy. Again, with profound gratitude.

ANNUAL APPARITION TO IVANKA, VISIONARY
JUNE 25, 2008

The visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez had her regular annual apparition on June 25th 2008. According to the visionaries, Vicka, Marija and Ivan continue to have daily apparitions, and Mirjana, Ivanka and Jakov have an annual apparition.

At Her last daily apparition on May 7, 1985, Our Lady confided to Ivanka the 10th secret and told her that she would have an apparition once a year on the anniversary of the apparitions. It was that way also this year. The apparition lasted 6 minutes. Ivanka had the apparition at home in the presence of her family, her husband and her three children.

After the apparition, the visionary Ivanka said: " Our Lady spoke to me about the ninth secret. She gave us Her motherly blessing. "

MONTHLY APPARITION TO MIRJANA, VISIONARY
JULY 2, 2008

"Dear Children! With motherly love I desire to encourage you to love your neighbor. May my Son be the source of that love. He, who could have done everything by force, chose love and gave an example to you. Also today, through me, God expresses immeasurable goodness to you and, you children, are obliged to respond to it. With equal goodness and generosity behave towards the souls whom you meet. May your love convert them. In that way my Son and his love will resurrect in you. Thank you."

Our Lady added: "Your shepherds should be in your hearts and your prayers."

GOSPA MESSAGE OF MAY 25, 2008

"Dear children! In this time of grace, when God has permitted me to be with you, little children, I call you anew to conversion. Work on the salvation of the world in a special way while I am with you. God is merciful and gives special graces, therefore, seek them through prayer. I am with you and do not leave you alone. Discretion is necessary in discernment of news about Medjugorje

“We bishops, after a three-year-long commission study accept Medjugorje as a holy place, as a shrine. This means that we have nothing against it if someone venerates the Mother of God in a manner also in agreement with the teaching and belief of the Church. Therefore, we are leaving that to further study. The Church does not hurry.”

Dr. Franio Kuharic, Archibishop of Zagreb
(Glas Koncila, August 15, 1993)

PILGRIMAGE FROM LAS VEGAS
MEDJUGORJE, SARAJEVO
and includes day journey to DUBROVNIK

OCTOBER 27, 2008 - NOVEMBER 6, 2008
October, the month of our Blessed Mother, Mary Most Holy, Mother of God

$2295 plus airport taxes and fuel surcharges
includes: 8 nights in Medjugorje at the Villa Regina (next to St. James Parish, Adoration Chapel plus) and 1 day and night in Sarajevo - known as the European Jerusalem - and where our Venerable Pope John Paul II, "The Great" journeyed in 1997, after the war.

Please join us on this blessed and spiritual pilgrimage to Medjugorje and Sarajevo from Las Vegas. Also a day trip to the historic old, walled city of the breathtakingly, beautiful seaport of Catholic Dubrovnik in Croatia is included. Witness the significant restoration of the old Town and reconstruction of Sarajevo after the frightful Civil War just 12 years ago

What is unique to this journey is staying 8 nights in Medjugorje which is known as the Oasis of Peace - the little village where our Blessed Mother has appeared to six children, now adults, reportedly these past 26 years and is still present daily to three of them. After our 8 day stay of peace and prayer, we are pleased to announce that we will be departing early from Medjugorje to Sarajevo, where we will experience a greater insight of Our Blessed Mother's messages. It will be a sobering, yet deeply spiritual journey as we witness some of the great tragedies that befell the whole area.

Sarajevo is known as the European Jerusalem as the major religions around the world are congregated within 100 m. of each other. There you will see Roman Catholic Church, the Jewish synagogue, Orthodox Church and Moslem mosque. In 1997, after the war, the late Pope John Paul II made a historic pilgrimage to Sarajevo, where "trampled and violated by hatred" he "went to trace - personally, after having spiritually covered it step by step - the furrow of a new path. He went to assert, challenging protocols of caution and cohabitation, the right which, beyond his own merits, every man deserves: that of knowing that he is loved. That he is not alone. And John Paul II went to Sarajevo and Beirut to strengthen - and possibly extend to all places - this dramatic cry for peace. 1" Recently, Pope Benedict XVI invited "representatives of the Islamic Leaders group to come to Rome for in-depth discussions. [HRH] Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal, the president of the Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan, revealed that he had accepted the papal invitation. The Jordanian leader indicated that he hoped to meet with the Pontiff in February or March 2008." 2 This indeed will be remarkable as "Vatican officials are determined to press their case for Islamic recognition of the right to religious freedom, especially for Christians living in predominantly Muslim countries."

We will overnight in Sarajevo at the notable Holiday Inn (the only functioning wartime hotel available during the civil war for the war correspondents in 1992-1995). The following morning, we will depart for home with renewed vigor in prayer for peace and a deeper understanding of the Gospa's messages.

Regarding Medjugorje, it is worthy of mention, it is Cardinal Vinko Puljic of Sarajevo, in the summer of 2006, who stated that a new commission to review the matters surrounding the apparitions of our Blessed Mother, who has referred to herself as the Queen of Peace, will be eventually formed. The Cardinal has recently made it clear that they have not yet received the directive from the Holy See and he stated not to speculate further on this matter. (Continued below)

It is a time to pray, to integrate the messages of our Mother for peace, to celebrate the month of October dedicated to Our Mother, and to thank God for the gift of our Catholic faith. We hope that you will want to join us. For more information, please call Perla Saenz at (702) 458-5375 or 985-3144, Grace at (702) 281-1682, Miriam at (702) 898-1896, or Stefanie at 206 Tours (800-206-8687 ext. 116). (Continued from above) ...

In Medjugorje, we will be staying at the modest, yet comfortable Villa Regina, which is hosted by the Vasilj family, next to St. James Catholic Church and convenient for the pilgrims who may need assistance.

Discretion is necessary in discernment of news about Medjugorje

Organizers of pilgrimages, responsible parties of Centers of Peace and Prayer Groups, regularly ask us many diverse questions about spectacular news related to the Apparitions of Our Lady, presumed declarations of visionaries and of the position of Herzegovinian Franciscans.

It is impossible to personally answer each one of them. However, we encourage pilgrims and friends of Medjugorje to first “discern in the Spirit and in Truth” news which may be heard or read, and we invite each and every one not to be mislead or deceived by sensationalism or by shallow, and sometimes malicious news, being published.

All essential and necessary information concerning the events of Medjugorje can be found on our web-pages www.medjugorje.hr , which is the ‘official voice’ from Medjugorje. We ask you to accept and to disseminate, in prayer and with seriousness, news coming from other sources, and - if necessary - to disregard this news completely.

All Franciscan Friars serving in the Parish of St. James in Medjugorje are here with the permission of the local Bishop, Monsignor Ratko Perić, and all possess their canonical jurisdiction for exercising their priestly ministry.
